When I was young, I loved a good art project. If there weren’t markers, crayons and sticker books around, chances are you weren’t in my room. I wanted to create my own world, and be in control of the outcome. The older we get, the harder it is for us to find time to create. To find time to step away from our cell phones, or work or school or besties or boyfriends. But, the importance of quiet creation is still there. There is power in taking time to be alone with your thoughts and dreams and “visioning” the life you desire.
This issue of LuLu Online we are talking vision. And while this is not a mandatory assignment, we are encouraging you to do more than just think about the vision for your life, we hope you’ll take time to manifest that vision, even if it’s only in pictures to start. One of the more artistic ways of doing that is by creating a vision board. Why? Because it’s something you can see. It’s a constant reminder of the dreams that can sometimes be forgotten in the midst of instagram and twitter and tv, or just losing time online or with friends. It’s an invitation to your date with destiny.
Right now think of the biggest dreams you can for your life. Cut representative pictures out of a magazine or find them online and glue or tape them on a poster board you’ll see everyday. There is power in being intentional with your dreams. It works. This, I know, has a power unto itself.
There are no rules - just imagine what you want for your life. Don’t judge your dreams, accept that they were given to you for a reason. Find the visual representation of that dream or idea, and stick it on your board. Experts suggest you should think about what you want for your life in these five key areas:
Close your eyes, give yourself a few minutes for each category. Really push yourself to dream of the absolute best scenario you can imagine. Pray or meditate, and know God and the universe is conspiring in your favor to accomplish those goals.
“If you think you can or think you can’t either way you’re right.” Creating a vision board is the first step in telling yourself and the world who you are and what you will achieve. Here are a few of our favorite articles on visioning. Here’s to a future full of you getting all that you desire!
