There is a saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I’m not sure who said that, but it’s the for real truth. We all see what want to see. We all view life from a different perspective. To me, that’s the meaning of beauty. Beauty is anything that you want it to be.
Growing up I thought beauty was putting on makeup and looking like the skinny girls on TV. Beauty for me was playing dress up with my aunt’s stylish shoes and handbags and going through my other aunt’s cosmetic bag while plowing through my mother’s jewelry box and pretending to be fabulous. As you get older you begin to evolve and your perspective of beauty changes. For instance, I still associate make-up with beauty but I no longer believe it's what causes someone to be beautiful. It’s a way to enhance what is already there, minus the snip, tuck, and sew procedure.
Beau-TEA to me is many things. I can’t list them all right now, but at this current time beau-TEA to me is “friendship." June 8th is “National Best-Friends Day” and I have to say that the bond between best friends is amazing. The fact that individual(s) choose to be in each other’s lives with no warrant of pay or personal gain is phenomenal. It’s a bond that should be treasured and respected. After all, friends become our chosen family.
A friendship can do one of two things. It can bring out the best in you and essentially cause you to do better and be better, OR it can drain you and bring you down. Good friendships are special, and should not be taken lightly. You have the ability to welcome anyone you want into your life, therefore, whom you allow in your space and more importantly whom you choose to be loyal to is important.
Growing up my family would always say to me “show me your friends, and I can tell you who you are." I have no idea who said that quote either, but whomever it was, was a genius. Your friends are a reflection of you. So my beau-TEA-ful readers, don’t let anyone dim your shine. Let your radiant beau-TEA shine amongst other stars. If you’re going to shine - you might as well shine together.
In honor of “National Best Friends Day," June 8th, I would like to dedicate this post to my "besties" and to all the other special "besties" out there. You are the individuals with whom we share our deepest secrets, you dry our tears when needed, you come over for sleepless sleepovers, and become the perfect party buddy when necessary. Today is the day to enjoy each other and remember why you are so special to one another. Have a wonderful best friends day, what you have is irreplaceable and beau-TEA-ful.
